Our comic web serial has concluded with its final two episodes hitting the interwebs in fine fashion, separated only by a forthnight.
This is a two part finale to the serial that debuted online in late 2007 as an experiment before receiving funding through Kilkenny Co. Council’s Arts Act Grant to complete a series. The production continued throughout 2008 before wrapping early this year. Sunday September 20th saw the sixth episode of the ongoing detective serial hit the internet. Entitled Attack Of The Pinkertons, the episode sees the newly unemployed gentlemen detectives of V.P.I. reacting badly to the Pinkertons opening in town. Unemployed and underground (well, in Tennyson’s house), Vultour and McGrain are intent on eluding the clutches of their old friend Natalie Blaise. Tennyson however is looking for a peaceable resolution, no doubt with a strong mug of tea and polite chat involved. However, Natalie Blaise doesn’t seem to be open to dialogue. The Pinkertons are making their presence felt. And people are getting hurt.
On October 4th, the seventh and final episode entitled The Long Goodbye went online, tying up all the loose ends from Attack Of The Pinkertons as the cut rate detectives try and eliminate the threat of their bigger, more professional rivals once and for all.
These final two episodes bring the Vultures series to a close. This concludes a project that has seen up to 60 people work in different capacities on the show in Kilkenny since its inception in late 2007. The 7 episodes have provided a showcase for the variety of different talents that exist in Kilkenny’s filmmaking community. Produced by local company Mycrofilms, Vultures was one of the first Irish video podcasts to launch and it continues to be a success on iTunes where it can be subscribed to for free.
